- <p> DIED. CAITLIN THOMAS, 81, widow of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas;
- in Catania, Italy. A dancer and artist's model when she married
- the penniless poet, Caitlin grew resentful of Thomas' burgeoning
- career, which she saw as smothering her own ambitions and leaving
- her with a life full of domestic drudgery. She nevertheless
- achieved notoriety as one half of a road-show relationship marked
- by boozing, brawling and infidelity. After Dylan's alcoholic
- demise in 1953, Caitlin chronicled their self-immolating passion
- in the memoir Leftover Life to Kill.
